Photographer Marco Paoluzzo first became interested in China decades ago, yet the passionate world traveler refused to visit the country for political reasons until 1998. At that time two friends invited him to collaborate on a book about Shanghai. He was quickly fascinated by the land, and it was here that he met Feifei, now his wife. He has returned to China almost every year since then, and each time he has made new discoveries. This book is the fruit of numerous exploratory journeys that he has randomly taken through the countryside. It is the photographer's personal travel log, documenting China's leap from the Maoist era into the 21st century and capturing life in China in all its simultaneous complexity and simplicity.

Das Interesse des Fotografen Marco Paoluzzo für China wurde bereits vor Jahrzehnten geweckt, doch aus politischen Gründen weigerte sich der passionierte Weltenbummler bis 1998, das Land zu besuchen. Damals luden ihn zwei Freunde ein, an einem Buch über Shanghai mitzuwirken. Rasch war er von diesem Land fasziniert, in dem er Feifei, seine heutige Frau, kennenlernte. Seither kehrt er fast jährlich nach China zurück, um jedes Mal neue Horizonte zu entdecken. Das vorliegende Buch ist das Ergebnis zahlreicher Erkundungsfahrten, die er aufs Geratewohl durchs ganze Land unternahm. Es ist das persönliche Reisejournal des Fotografen, das Chinas grossen Sprung aus der MaoÄra in die Modernität des 21. Jahrhunderts dokumentiert und das chinesische Leben in seiner ganzen Komplexität und Einfachheit festhält.

L'auteur - Marco Paoluzzo
Marco Paoluzzo est né en 1949 à Bienne. Il suit les cours de l'école de photographie de Vevey. En 1981, il s'établit dans sa ville natale où il travaille pour la publicité et l'industrie. En 1995, son travail s'oriente vers la photographie de voyage suite à la publication de son premier livre sur l'Islande. Depuis, il parcourt le monde pour différents magazines. Ses images ont été publiées par Animan, Géo, National Geographic Traveler, Traveller Magazine, Altaïr, Paris Match, Vogue, l'illustré et bien d'autres. Il a publié de nombreux livres.
