Jumping JavaScript is divided into eight parts:
Part 1 Getting Started, describes the evolution
of the JavaScript language, the scripting environment,
general scripting concepts, and
debugging procedures.
Part 2 Creating HTML Pages, introduces the concepts of JavaScript objects and takes an in-depth look at the window, document, location, and history objects.
Part 3 Navigating on the Web, discusses how to work with links, anchors, image maps, and embedded Java Applets.
Part 4 Getting User Input, describes in detail how to create and use all of the forms user interface elements -- Text fields and areas, buttons, check boxes, radio buttons, and selection lists -- and how upload data extracted from forms elements to a server.
Part 5 Controlling Your Scripts, describes how to test for conditions, create loops, and use operators in your scripts.
Part 6 Using System Objects, describes how to work with strings and arrays. It also describes how to use the Date, Math, and navigator objects, and how to specify MIME types and use plug ins.
Part 7 Advanced JavaScript, describes how to create your own JavaScript objects, use the cookies property of the document object to store and retrieve information on the client side of the connection, and control data tainting. It also introduces LiveConnect, which you can use to control JavaScript/Java interactions.
Part 8 Appendixes, provides information about
creating Netscape frames, JavaScript built-in color names,
and lists resources and further exploration. It also
provides a quick-reference guide to JavaScript and provides
some additional example scripts.
