Résumé

Fast, fun volume shows page design pros how to transfer their skills to the new king of desktop publishing: Adobe InDesign CS!

When it comes to comparing InDesign CS with its two long-time rivals, many of today's page-layout pros agree: InDesign costs less, does more, and is far more intuitive to use. And in more and more organizations, InDesign CS is quickly replacing QuarkXPress and PageMaker as the page-layout tool of choice. For QuarkXPress and PageMaker users who need to make the switch fast-turning their layout expertise into InDesign expertise without missing a beat in their busy production cycles-this compact volume delivers. As the perfect companion to the comprehensive Real World Adobe InDesign CS, this tightly focused guide details the most common tasks and techniques experienced page designers need to know to get the job done-including the top ten "gotchas" to watch out for when switching to InDesign. Written by three experts in the field of digital publishing, Moving to InDesign provides a streamlined tour of InDesign CS that focuses on employing your skills in the other desktop publishing packages to get you up and running in the new leading publishing package. Clear, concise instructions enhanced by plenty of screen shots and sample layouts show you how to:

  • Create and navigate documents
  • Master InDesign's superior text and typography features
  • Import and style text and objects
  • Manage long projects
  • Make the most of master pages and style sheets
  • Work naturally and intuitively with graphics and images
  • Let InDesign's color and transparency features free you from unwieldy workarounds
  • Preflight, print, and export flawless InDesign files
