In these pages, are collected in a readable form an abstract of the lives and doctrines of some of those who have stood foremost in the ranks of Free thought in all countries and in all ages (Condorcet, M. De Voltaire, Thomas Paine, David Hume...). The life of the world's great iconoclasts and skeptics assembled in this volume challenges conventional notions of god, country, science, art, society, and culture. Free thought encompasses many different schools of thought, including atheism, agnosticism. It incorporates also those who have challenged the predominant orthodoxies in every field of endeavor, from science to politics to the arts. These Freethinkers have also been Free Workers, endeavoring to raise men's minds from superstition, and bigotry, and place before them a knowledge of the real.
