Résumé
--
As the title indicates, this book is entirely focused on the Church today. It follows other works more directly devoted to the nature of the ecclesial community, in its most fundamental aspect: 'Le Mystère de l'Église' (1992), and 'L'Ecclésiologie de communion' (1997). In these pages, the author faces present-day situations with lucidity, clarity and total freedom of expression, calling upon his knowledge of the 'pastoral field', his teaching skills and his great familiarity with the Tradition of the Church. What will become of local ecclesial communities: their accomplishments, their fears, their reasons for existing, seeking and hoping? And that previously unknown status for the Church: no longer the 'matrix for society', it has no choice but to attempt to open up new paths. This book adopts a frontal approach to many current challenges: new modes of access to the presbyterate, feminine ministry, the ministry of anointing the sick, the reception of divorced people who have remarried... This 'committed' book is a highly pedagogical tool, to be used by different actors of ecclesial life, secular or ordained. Its aim is to enlighten and accompany a Church that is searching, attempting to 'stand the test of time'.
